Bernard Hoffer: A Celebration
world premiere bagatelle in honor of BMV’s 50th Anniversary Season

Boston Musica Viva is proud to invite some of our favorite talented young collaborators for a family concert overflowing with great music and fun for all ages. Patrick Greene’s The Druddigon is a fable about fear, monsters, and the clever eye of children. It features an original libretto by National Book Award Winner M.T. Anderson for narrator Steve Aveson, and choreography by the Northeast Youth Ballet, expertly trained by Denise Cecere.

The Boston City Singers Cantare join Aveson, BMV, and the Berklee Percussion Ensemble for Ayobami, a setting of a West African folk tale by composer Hale Smith. BMV originally commissioned and premiered Ayobami in the year 2000. Plus, we will premiere a new work by Bernard Hoffer written in honor of our 50th Anniversary!

Be sure to come early for storytime! M.T. Anderson will read one of his most beloved books for young readers at 2pm in the Tsai inner lobby. Free to ticket-holders! (Note: Story time will begin at 2pm, 30 minutes earlier than originally listed here. Doors to the concert hall will open at 2:30pm.)
