John Aylward: Ephemera
Hannah Lash: Subtilior, Lamento
Elliott Carter: A Mirror on Which to Dwell
     Zorana Sadiq, soprano

Join us as we kick off our 49th Season with a 20th Century masterwork,an exciting world premiere, and a pair of works by composers new to BMV.

A Mirror on Which to Dwell is justly one of Pulitzer Prize-winner Elliott Carter’s greatest works. Carter’s evocative settings of Elizabeth Bishop’s atmospheric poems are masterful for their sensitivity, word painting, and wit—a perfect fit for acclaimed soprano Zorana Sadiq. Bernard Hoffer’s Concerto di Camera IV showcases the virtuosity of BMV clarinetist William Kirkley with the kind of brilliant orchestration and witty musical ideas that are hallmarks of Hoffer’s work.

New to BMV, Hannah Lash shines in her ability to balance rhythmic and harmonic complexities in Subtilior, Lamento, and John Aylward sets up an intriguing dialogue between bass clarinet and cello in his Ephemera.
